- There is a difference between the manufacturer’s warranty and maintenance plan/motor plan and the dealer may be using these terms interchangeably in order to instil fear, uncertainty and doubt in the clients mind , the standard MB manufacturer’s warranty is for 2 years which covers any latent manufacturing defects and certain mechanical failures within this period. The Maintenance plan is an additional paid for scheme which covers the cost of maintenance, services etc. and certain mechanical failures.
- Glass is not covered under any warranty or maintenance plan/motor plan by the OEM nor is it considered as a serviceable item, with this in mind, how then can replacement of the glass with a product of equivalent quality and specifications negatively affect a vehicles warranty or value if the product itself was never covered by the warranty or maintenance plan/motor plan to start with. Further to this most OEM’s do not readily honour any latent defect claims on glass, as these claims usually need to be referred back to the glass manufacturer, implying that the OEM’s technical proficiency does not extend to glass or glass quality.
- All Glass fitted by Glasfit exceeds SABS standards and all meet the E.U. and American safety standards. This makes any part fitted by Glasfit a like for like quality equivalent part, as the aforementioned safety standards are the same standards OEM’s must adhere to as well.
